This Lady Sings the Blues
AEGEAN, CORNFLOWER, ROYAL, NAVY ~ BLUE ... YES PLEASE!!!!
My obsession with the blue & white décor in our queen guest room continues to the adjoining bathroom. Here’s what I’m doing... I have decided to give this 1993 bathroom a facelift and not a total gut. I’m having new cabinet doors & drawer fronts made, installing a new counter, a sink, faucets, towel bars etc, and adding decorative tile for contrast and interest with all the white.
I’m going with painted, shaker style cabinet doors and drawers. For the counter I’m using Bianco Romano granite, a white rectangular sink, with polished nickel faucets.
I’ve chosen a really pretty blue & white, budget-friendly ceramic “mosaic” tile for the vanity backsplash and decorative inset border in the shower/tub. Technically it isn’t really a mosaic, it’s a 12” x 12” tile made to look like nine, 4” x 4” tiles. My tiler will cut each 12" x 12" tile to yield three, 4" x 12" pieces. He’ll then lay the 4" x 12"s end-to-end to create a linear border. It will look terrific with the granite and the existing white tile in the shower/tub area.
In the vanity area, I'm adding wood molding around the existing mirror and a simple polished nickel light fixture over the sink.
I found great hand-painted, ceramic cabinet knobs on Amazon.com and a pretty garden seat at Home Goods. Happy patterned towels from Neiman Marcus & striped cotton runners from Dash & Albert are the icing on this blue & white cake.
For the paints, I’ve using Benjamin Moore’s Simply White for the cabinetry & the trim and Riviera Azure on the walls for a fresh, clean, crisp look.
